connecting with an instrument

I've been using 2 mics to record acoustic stuff and vocals, and Now I'm trying to run my electric guitar directly through my M-box, and ive had it working like that before, but now i cant seem to get an input from it when i plug it in. In other words it doesnt seem to be picking up the guitar for some reason.

Make sure you are plugged into one of the combo jacks on the back that say source 1 and source 2, not the inserts. Make sure the input where you have it plugged in is set to "inst". (remember that the bottom input on the back is actually input 1, which is the top input input control on the front) Make sure the track you are trying to record to has the physical input where you are plugged in set as it's input. Make sure the track is record armed. Make sure the volume is up. Make sure the "mix" knob on the mbox is set to "input"

all of that is done, and its not working. What's weird is I seem to be getting feedback, but when i mute the strings, it stops. However, the guitar does not sound when being played.

If you have everything set up as described, then there can be only one of 4 things wrong; the guitar is defective, the cable is defective, the mbox is defective, or you are doing something wrong. You have already established that the mbox is not defective by recording other things with it. Test the guitar and the cable. If they are both working, that leaves only one thing. You dig? Devan, you really need someone to help you in person to figure out what you are doing wrong. Otherwise we'll be here for pages and pages and days and days like last time where we didn't even find out until page 2 that you had an older version of the program. What you are trying to do is very basic, so basic that even the newbies are saying "WTF?". The problems you are having shouldn't take you days to figure out. Please, for the love of God, find someone in your area that can come over to your place and assist you. Pay them if you have to. (they will deserve every penny of it)

i cant afford to pay someone, i know everything works, and i know everything is done correctly as you told me above, ive checked it over and over. I don't know what else to do. Is there a technical support phone line i could call?
