Why is the take system still only halfway there?

Am I missing something? Could the default be more simple and intuitive (could REAPER learn from Studio One…) 19-02 EDIT: PS (video here)

Your post is misty and as short as it can get i suppose. - Explain what you mean by "simple" and "intuitive". - Explain what you like about the S1 take system. Only trying to help you further ok ? :0)

I used Reaper way before I tried Studio One, both have there pro's and con's. Nothing wrong with a feature request I hope? :)

Asking for changes when you aren't even prepared to describe the changes you want seems a little silly. It sounds like you just want to be using Studio One (whatever that is). That's no problem, no-one will force you to use Reaper, and I'm pretty sure S1 is still available to purchase. Steve

Making specific requests helps the developers. You can't expect them to find out what you mean by simple and intuitive. That said, I think the take-system in Reaper is really good - even when compared to Studio One (v2).

Takes tip of the day. You've done several takes of an instrument but the last take near the end of the section is all chopped up and messy from the other take punch points. We can easily get rid of these now unnecessary splits without really losing anything. I use CTRL+L to collapse them, delete the two remnants on the right, then drag out what's left because all three of those are the exact same audio. ;) Once we get used to this, we can eliminate lots of if not all the messiness with those splits, it's second nature for me at this point and it just sort of happens as I work. Once you have a good feel for it, you don't even need to expand the takes and you can just keep them collapsed which I always promote as the most useful feature few take the time to understand.

And sometimes other programs do have more intuitive tools. Our job is to detail why and create a critical mass of users who agree to inspire the devs to change it.
