Reaper + gearbox (line-6), and I get crap?

It sounds like Reaper doesn't even record the reverb and other stuff I have in Gearbox, what do I do? It all sounds flat and like pure rubbish! Just listen to this, what is wrong? It sounds like crap! I enhanced the recorded vocals to make it more apparent, so it's to loud in relation to the instrumentals and back up vocals.

I can't hear the clip but which are you using? the Gearbox plugin or the stand alone SW and a line 6 interface?

oh, I can't listen to it because my work blocked the site but it doesn't matter....nonetheless, Gearbox sends the "wet" tracks (with reverb/delay/etc) to Send 1/2 and the "dry" (no effects) to Send 3/4. In Reaper, select your record input to Send 1 for mono or Send 1/2 for stereo of you want the effects recorded. There may be some things to check under your ASIO Driver settings but I'm not in front of my setup to check. Maybe someone else can, there are tons of Gearbox users here.

To record a "wet" track from Gearbox: * Fire up Gearbox independently of Reaper and select a tone. * Arm a track and make sure to select input 1 or 2 as someone else indicated above * Record. You don't need to have the plugin on the track; that's for if you record a "dry" track and want to apply an tone to it. Hope this helps.

I think the problem could depend on what device you're using. I know that, on my Toneport UX8, there are actually 12 device inputs. 1-8 are the actual inputs, and 9-12 are 'Tone Processed' which are those I need to record if I want the Gearbox processing to record. Therefore, ensure you've got all of the inputs enabled in Reaper, and it may not be Input 1 & 2, but something later (perhaps called Tone Processed). HTH.

I have tried everything, but the sound doesn't sound realistic - not at all what it sounds like irl. I have literally spent hundreds of hours trying to get Reaper/Gaerbox produce a good sound, but I'm about to give up... I guess there's noone with a good pre-set to share?

My girlfriend's dad records his gearbox sounds on reaper all day long, though I always try and get him to record clean with plugins instead. I'll see how he has it set up tomorrow He uses a toneport GX and a toneport kb37 Which model are you using?

you may want to read up on how to use the gearbox - you are probably just hearing the dry guitar track.... can you reupload that file? The speedyshare has deleted your file.
