Reaper-Like-Notation???

With Reaper being the innovative DAW software that reshaped what a DAW should be like (both in performance and size)... ...I was wondering if there was notation software out there that held the same principles as Reaper (ie. Light Install, STABLE, Few System Resources Used, Fast)? Programs like Sibelius and Finale, standards in notation software, are HUGE. I'm talking 4-6GB after install. Why does a notation package have to be this big? I can understand sound banks....but why notation software?

Doest work like a DAW, and no TAB. But very nice. Edit: forgot to mention FREE and opensource.

Encore: small, fast... Finale is an absolute nightmare to work with. I haven't used Sibelius, but pretty much everyone says it's great, though big as you point out.

Check Out this Comparison Page, which I Found Very Useful. Most Notation Programs have been totally useless to Me, because the Print out is Totally Un Playable. The Comparison compares Notation/Midi File Printers, mainly for printing Purposes, and labels all of them under different prints, comparing which programs are best for printing. It compares Midi Converters, and gives them ratings for printing quality, and for acuracy, and shows samples of the print. Also, the Pro Versions of the first 2 Rated Products For Printing, and converting to notation, also allow you to create and edit your own notation. I Have been Trying those 2 Pro Versions (i.e. Notation Composer & MidiIllistator Meastro) Here is the Link for comparisons with loads and pros and cons for the software..... Good Luck.. :-)
