It would be nice to allow one to assign any single FX plugin to a group. Group's then could be muted or solo's all at once. For example, suppose I have a very good enhancing plugin(e.g., exciter) that is very cpu intensive. I put it on all my tracks but it is not good for general tracking and mixing because of the cpu load(cracks, pops, and stalls). If I could assign them all to a group and be able to disable/mute that group then I don't have to worry about going and finding all of them individually. When I'm ready for a mixdown I can just unmute the group. In fact, with such a setup, it would be nice to have a way to mute and unmute groups on render. e.g., If I have some junk tracks that I use(metronome click or whatever) but I don't want it to get into the final mix I could assign that track to a "group"(or whatever you want to call it) and then tell the renderer to always mute that group before render.
I guess this feature could complement the one about the FX chain: Being able to line up FX you could have a shortcut to bypass a row (same with sends) A.
I'm talking about muting(or soloing or whatever) a group of plugins that are used across many tracks. e.g., Group 1: exciter - Track 10 EQ - Track 2 Maximizer - Track 22 EQ - Track 22 .... if I mute Group 1 it will mute/disable each of those plugins in the group... I don't think there is any way to do this in reaper easily without scripts.
The avenue for this feature should be the envelope / modulation system in which slave parameters follow a master parameter. The only thing that's wrong is that we can't have one parameter of one track affect a parameter of another track.
