Loud pop inserting mic to phantom enabled inputs

Hi, For a week the C24 acts weird when I insert a mic into phantom bank 2 (I leave 1 off all the time) There's a (really) loud pop coming thru my monitors even no channels are record enabled and the preamp volume is full ccwise.The mics are a U87 and an Mbho. I have to turn my monitors / mon. amp's power off when I need to insert a mic which is not so fun. I didn't try inserting mics directly to C24 (i don't wanna blow my speakers) Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks

Sorry if I've misunderstood what you mean - but all phantom power should be off when inserting or removing mics, but I'm sure you know that already. If it is off - it sounds like the phantom is on still - maybe the switch isn't working properly?!?!? Stu

"but all phantom power should be off when inserting or removing mics, but I'm sure you know that already" I definately agree with this, but there is one issue...if the console is in a desk turning phantom power off requires, in some cases, pulling the desk out and reaching back and clicking that little button off and on. Please tell me there is a more practical way, I really hope I am missing a key feature here.
