In any Reaper vs. Anything thread, I have to point out that no other sequencer can touch Reaper for its ability to work so easily with songs with changing time signatures and tempos. Nearly every other sequencer requires opening a separate window for dealing with time sig/tempo changes...and those that do allow you to work directly on the timeline in the track view, once you start editing your song, it's a royal pain to re-align the time changes. In Reaper, you just engage slip mode, and all of your MIDI and audio clips move right along and stay synchronized with your time changes. I know this isn't a huge deal if you're composing pop or dance music where tempos are steady and time signatures constant, but believe me, if you compose progressive rock like me, it's a God-send! (I would imagine that people who compose for film, or classical, jazz, avant-garde, this is a huge plus for them as well).

I'm a somewhat analog-style guy(when it comes to workflow and little else) and my switch from Nuendo3 to Reaper was a piece of cake. Haven't looked back since. Only for a very few months did I occasionally use Nuendo for old projects. What I mean by "analog-style" is that I use my DAW as a mixer and tape recorder, with only a little MIDI and VSTi's on the side, and I record mostly acoustic instruments without a click and such. For my purposes Reaper kicks ass!

Yup Dog Boots! Reaper is a bleeding brilliant tape recorder/mixer, and it's got a lot of nice built in effects too. It's a good job I don't have to use dolby nr on it though, cos I can't see the button for it anywhere :)

im not really a Nuendo user so i dont know about the details, but if you use its AudioParts - you gonna miss it from Reaper. Reaper's audio concept is "time linear" - so its more like a Tape Recorder. hopefully Cockos gonna implement something like that too, eventually. i wish.. besides this, Reaper is an amazingly flexible APP, and dont forget about the Extensions.. :)

Ok...I downloaded and installed it but didn't get too far cause I spent about a half hour trying to get my FW-1884 to work with it using Mackie Control. I kept getting a message "error:could not open midi output" I was choosing the controller as the midi in and out the same way I do in nuendo. Tried several different things but nothing worked. The faders would jump up when i ran reaper but there was no control after that. I had to leave the studio so I didn't get to play with anything else. This will be real important for me to get working so if I know me, i wont even look at another feature in Reaper until I figure this out. I tried the manual real quick but didn't have alot of time to check it thoroughly. Anyway, i know it must be something i'm doing wrong. I'll do some more research on it. Back the Reaper vs. Nuendo thing. I use time warp alot to get the tempo of tracks that customers bring me so i can change parts and move over hooks around with no problems. Is this something that can be done in Reaper.
