How to make splits not pop and click?

You have to fade the beginning and end of the clip to avoid said poppage. Ive had to do it countless times. Even the slightest fade will counter the pop but you need to manually do it of reach little clip. There may be a setting that can do it for you, but Im not aware of it. To get audiophile silly about it, if youre getting very loud pops at the start of your clips, look and see if theres any DC Offset going on. Rare, but it happens if youre like me and have used an HD Realtek soundcard for professional productions and need to know how to work around how shitty they are :P ~ low end sound cards often impart DC Offset. Easily fixable in Reaper with a very handy JS tool, but if your pops are really loud and nasty, check see if DC Offset is present. Just look at the waveform and see if the wave is generated and "sitting" higher or lower than the center line, which is Zero. Use the tool n fix it. Again, rather rare that this is your situation but hey.....Ive had just enough coffee to both type my butt off and at least "try" to be helpful :D

I'm fairly sure that there is an option to have automatic short fades at the start and end of each clip but I'm not sure where you find it off the top of my head. James.

Also, when you split, I find I don't get the clicks if I choose the "Split at previous zero crossing". I'm sure the clicks are coming from the drop from a certain amplitude to zero.

if you already know this don't read it... your pop problem comes from making the cuts along the wav form at a point other than a 'zero crossing'... A zero crossing is where the up and down cycle of the wav EXACTLY crosses the midpoint .... I use Adobe Auditon as my external wav editor and it has features to find the nearest zero crossing... I thought reaper did also but now I can't find the setting for it. The advice about tiny fades if correct ... and you need to know they are really tiny! Like you won't even see them unless you zoom way, way in.

Whoaaaaa duuuude.... you've been at this long time...long damn time. The Reaper crossfades are stupid, whacking out transients that should be untouched. Zero crossings always have been the place to split.

There are several actions to split items. I use these 2 macros, one for clean/no-crossfades splits and one with crossfades: No crossfade when splitting Crossfades when splitting I think I've been using them since I started with REAPER.
