MIDI editor occasionally.....

I am having a hard time getting at the built in MIDI editor... it seems to open only very occasionally. I have tried 2.53,54 and 2.55 (even 3.1alpha) -all versions act the same double click the MIDI track and 49 times outta 50 nothing happens, same with trl+Alt+E.... Ireally want to create drums,key etc but I am at the moment stuck.. Any Ideas or suggestions on how to get at or replace the editor?

Have you tried right click/open in editor? or otherwise select options/preferences/external editors/add - and install your own editor (Audacity for example)

never had that happen here. could it be something to do with mouse settings, like the double click speed?

Maybe it is somewhere offscreen? I read several threads where the MIDI editor ended up being hidden underneath the Windows taskbar for example. This would not explain the 1 time out of 50 where you can open it correctly, though. If you want to check that anyway, the MIDI editors window coordinates are saved in the Reaper.ini in Windows Application Data\Reaper folder. Search for: window_x= . My current coordinates are: window_x=25 window_y=562 window_w=1374 window_h=573 on a 1680x1050 monitor. If your screen resolution is smaller, the _w and _h figures should be smaller of course... I really hope it helps.

Hi, same problem here with Reaper v2.55 on a PIII/1000 running Win98SE. The MIDI editor does not open at all, no matter whether I double-click, use Alt+Ctrl+E, or use the context menu. The tip by gofer (window_x etc.) didn't work, since the entries were nowhere to be found in the reaper.ini file. I added them manually, but that didn't do anything (except for causing Reaper to tell me that MIDI/Audio ports couldn't be opened...). Any other tips? On my work laptop (WinXP) it does work.
