Crash when clicking ASIO in Audio Device window

Hi everyone, I searched and couldn't find an answer to this question. I'm totally new to Reaper and a long-time Cubase user. This program looks like the answers to my prayers. Just one problem: I can get playback when using windows audio but when I go to switch the ASIO driver, reaper closes without error. I tried closing everything else. I tried all the normal things. I reset to factory defaults. It runs okay until I switch to ASIO. Then *POOF*. I'm running the latest drivers (7.3) for my Echo Layla 3g. Any help would be amazing.

I wish I could help--I do however want to say thanks for putting some real nice drum samples up @freesound. Once you get your interface working you are gonna love Reaper, so don't give up!

I had the same problem with my interface and its native drivers, the Alesis IO2. I'd recommend that you download ASIO4ALL and install it. Then, open up Reaper and change your ASIO drivers to ASIO4ALL. See if that gets you going. You can also e-mail tech support for your interface, but they probably won't do much for you.

Glad you enjoyed the samples! Hopefully I can make some more once I get this thing running. :) Strangely ASIO4All did make everything work in a sort of roundabout way. I opened Buzz and told it to use ASIO4All and while it was running I opened reaper and suddenly I was able to load my Echo driver, though only two of my inputs showed up. After a reboot, everything was there and I just recorded a drum take with no issues. Weird! I'm just glad it worked. Thanks, guys!
