my Dual-Processor Mac won\'t start up when I install SCSI-drive

My Dual Processor (450Mhz) Mac won't start up when I attach the SCSI external hard drive. This SCSI hard drive was working fine on my old 9600 Mac computer, but now I have a big headache with the Dual Processor. Can anyone help?????

Sounds like a SCSI termination or ID conflict. Be sure each device has a unique ID and that the SCSI chain is terminated properly. The one thing I've learned about SCSI is that even if you obey all the rules it still might not work, and if you break one or two rules that just might be enough to fix it. Experiment with as many combinations of drive, bus, ID, termination, and cable as you can, and you may find a combination that works, even if its not the textbook example. Be sure your SCSI card's firmware is updated. Good luck.

Hi, In additiion to Thomcat's suggestions, take a look at your SCSI cable. If your computer was pushed up against a wall in your old setup, or your new setup for that matter, then the cable may be kinked. SCSI cables don't like to work if they've got even the slightest kink in them. It sounds like a really silly thing to look for, but it F**ked me over for nearly 4 months when I couldn't get my Burner to work. I'd tried everything. I'd followed every instruction people had to offer me. And then one day I simply unplugged the cable, straightened it out and re-connected it, Voila. Give it a try, you never know. Seeya, Matt. thanks fellas, but I think trying to solve the problem rests in turning off certain extensions in the "extensions manager" window. I'm still not having any luck. Maybe ATTO's PCI adapter card is not compatible with dual processors.
