Yet another pan law question

I'm still a little messed up over Reaper's pan law stuff, coming from Cubase SX3. Let's see if I have this straight, to get me to be "the same" as Cubase: Project set at -3db, then set all stereo tracks to 0db, leave mono tracks alone? And vice versa, project at 0db, then set all mono tracks to -3db, leave stereos alone? Can you change the pan law for multiple selected tracks at once?

I'd leave the default project at 0db then if you like set your mono tracks to -3db that way any sends/folders wont be affected by the global -3db which would happen your way. MC

In case anyone wants to know, there is a "Xenakios Extension: Set Selected Tracks Pan Law to 0 db", so I set Alt+Shift+P to run it. So, in order to save time changing each mono track to -3db (I work with mostly real audio, the majority of which is mono-captured), I am now leaving my Project's default pan law at -3 db, then selecting all stereo and folder track, and changing them all at once to 0 db. Slick. Now I just have to REMEMBER to do it.

LOL that's what i used to do but I'd end up forgetting then getting funky level's in Mixdone etc so i went the other way and left it at '0' that way even if don't change the pan law's for mono tracks levels are fine. MC

You could also make a custom toolbar icon (i made one labeled Pan 0.0db) and attach the Xenakios custom action to it. It serves as a really good reminder.

Right-click and "save link as.." below, then put the file in your Reaper/Data/Toolbar Icons folder. Make sure it is named exactly like the others (except for the number of course). I found i had to replace one of the current icons to make it show up (limit of 25?) Find one you don't use, rename it with a new number (to save it), then rename the one you downloaded with its number. It should then show up in the Customize Toolbar box where you can assign the action to it and add it to the toolbar. BTW, the icon graphics are nothing special - just text. I like it simple. I did it in seconds, but it works for me. You should be able to find empty toolbar icons in your theme folder/s. You can add whatever you want to 'em in your favorite drawing/graphics program. Hope this helps.
