Reaper x64 won't start anymore

I have a real problem. I have tons of error popup windows when I start Reaper v3.12. It's looking for all the dll files in my computer, saying that it can't find it. The name of the error window is : reaper_host32.exe - composant introuvable (can't find component : my translation of the French Windows error message) Reaper told me that reinstalling the application might correct the error, but after the third install, I have the same problem. Reaper won't work. I erased everything having to do with reaper, before installing anew. Nothing works even after a fresh install. Same problem. I clicked OK to all the error messages. Then I had a new error window: Runtime error! Program C:\Program Files\REAPER(x64)\reaper_host32.exe R6034 An application had made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.Please contact the application's support team for more information. I clicked the OK button. then more "can't find component" errors error messages come up. It's literaly looking for ALL the dlls of my system. After having clicked on OK for 100 or so error messages, it's stuck on trying to find java.dll. It's a continuous loop, so I can't get past these. I can't even shutdown Reaper through the task manager. I think the problem started when changed the VST directory because Reaper didn't recognize Kontakt 3 64bit version and insisted on showing me the bridged 32 bit version only. Or it could be when I added an external editor? I added Audition 3. HELP!

It sounds like REAPER x64 is trying to load/scan some 32 bit VST that is failing. If you don't care about bridging, try removing (or renaming) reaper_host32.exe from your REAPER directory. If you want to (assuming you are on Vista or 7): Check to see if: Code:

Thank you Justin for the reply. I understand now what's happening. I couldn't live without bridging my 32bit VSTs so I uninstalled all of them. ReaperX64 now works. I'm in the process of re-installing them one by one. I'll post which VST it is.

I installed Photoshop before installing anything else. Now I get the same reaper_host32 error. It isn't a faulty VST, it's Adobe photoshop CS4 x64.

I have found something: Though I uninstalled Reaper and all of the VST, a fresh install of the former still kept all the VST paths of the previous install. I removed all the paths in the option --> preference --> plugins --> VST -- VST plugin path, except my main empty one, called "VST plugins". It seems to work. Maybe it's an empty VST folder that sent Reaper on a wild goose chase?
