I am a new user (just waiting for the Digi to show up at my place!) and heard that you are required to have an external HD to use the system. I have a G-4, 400hz, 20gb ATA HD now. Do I need to get another one or can I use this happily on it's own?! Thanks!
eric - it doesn't have to be external, internal is just fine - although you will want a separate drive just for the audio,I have a 7200rpm (a must) 28GB ATA66 seagate barracuda that works fantastic. A dedicated audio drive is highly recommended by digi & many with much experience, that post here on the DUC. You'll probably get the most for your money with an ATA 66 drive as they are relatively cheap compared with SCSI drives, while giving comparable performance. I got my audio drive from for aout $240. Another suggestion is to go to "storage subsystem issues" here at the digi site for alot more information. Hope this helps! crow

This might be a stupid question, but are IDE drives and ATA drives one and the same thing? I'm about to get my new computer, so it would help to know if there's a difference. Thanks Juergen
