Reaper into a Video App?

I heard Reaper was based on Vegas, but please let it "evolve" into a Video app also... i am using Vegas (which is like an audio sequencer but for video and dead easy) but boy is it slow and buggy... Obviously Reaper is a brilliant DAW but any video features added would be great so we can edit our stuff also! especially for the Mac platform as vegas never went to Mac.. Just a thought, but if it added Video i would pay 3 x the price! but obviously not losing any of the stability or audio features in the process...and if the Cockos Guys did it, you know it would be a killer app!

I agree. That's what pointed me towards VMS in the first place: people's recommendations on here that said VMS was most like reaper, but as a Vid Editor. I do, though, think that adding the vid trunk would probably tick off a lot of people that don't want it. Reaper is pretty kick-butt now as it is, I don't even know if I'd want it in there, as I'm pretty happy with VMS. Course, I'm only a hobbyist, so no need for Vegas level stuff.

I think it's a bad idea to bog down Reaper with extensive video capabilities. It's that old "letting the camel's nose in the tent" scenario - first it might just be simple video editing, but then other users would ask for titling, transitions, color correction, ever-increasing 3d capabilities, etc., etc., ad infinitum ad nauseam. A HUGE part of Reaper's appeal is its refusal to become bloatware. *IF* the Cockos/Reaper team decides to "do video", I'd recommend it be kept a complementary but entirely separate product.

+1 Even adding video+audio export would be enough for me. Pretty please developers.. (Hi Justin :) Quicktime export would blow my mind. I will buy another license just for that!

same. but the feature set required for doing video properly is gigantic. hopefully they'll knock out those big items in the request tracker before they start thinking about this... i'd love some more audio quantizing tools in there first...

I vote no. That is something that I would not like to see... not before the important things that will take years to get just right.

apart from an option to render the audio to the video file and a FULL EDIT MODE :) (where all edits you make also update the video position) I'm happy with it just being audio for now ;) as there is still a lot of cool things to add.
