making midi keyboard "time sensitive"

hello. i wonder if there is a possibility to make midi keyboard "sensitive" to how long the key is being held? i mean, when i press on midi key, only a fixed length note appears on piano roll, no matter how long the key is being held. i know i can adjust note's length with a mouse but its not the best option - i want to determine note's length when i'm playing, not after having played

go to a car boot / garage / yard sale and buy any cheap crap keyboard with a MIDI out socket
