DivX 5 Pro & Gato & Web3000

Well, I noticed that the last version of DivX comes not with on "spyware", but two of them. Of course that you can't uninstall the Gator component because it stops working. The problem is that, in oldest versions, I just blocked the internet access to gain_trickler_3202.exe and voila. My firewall always told me that it was trying to connect and that's it. But with the new (5.02) version, it doesn't seem to do nothing. How can I now if it's sending information and I don't realize about it?

Which firewall are you using ? If you use ZoneAlarm, go to the programs tab. Here you will be able to see all the programs ZA have ever detected as trying to access the internet. And you can tell ZA to always allow or deny connection.

I'm using Norton Internet Security... it used to work fin for me, but now I'm not so sure. :(

open your task manager, stop the gain-trickler process, then delete the executable. Deleted programs can't send anything ;)
