[IID#518] Option to turn off auto-splitting of takes

What's the status of this FR? I'm new to the issue tracker - it seems to be saying this request is highest priority and is suggested for v3.05, yet has not yet been implemented.... I would love to see auto-split turnoffable though - can we expect it to happen?

"Priority" and "Suggested version" are what the user selects when submitting the FR (for most users their FR has "highest" priority and he wants it yesterday :)). They don't have an actual meaning though for FRs, they come from the fact that we have a combined FR/BR tracker and the vB Projects plugin is a little restricted here.

OK thanks for the info. So if I'm mad keen to see an FR implemented (as with this one PLEEEZE God!), what's the best thing to do? Click on the 'would you use this feature' button?

Yes, that's the magic button! :) But please don't be mad if these things take a while, if they could they would implement everything yesterday but some changes may reach deep into the codebase which forbids hasty redesign on a "live" development project like Reaper, they like to keep Reaper downward compatible and would hate to break stuff.

+100000000000000000000000000000000 For me this would make loop recording much more enjoyable. I'd like an option to have it like Cubase/Nuendo where new takes go over top of old takes in a single lane. The way it works now gets really messy. My biggest pet peeve is that if you start recording just before the loop repeats, or stop recording just after the loop repeats you're left with broken takes and/or these useless empty takes. To add to the frustration, in the latter case the last take is the one that plays (even if its blank, or only contains a single note!) and you have to manually select the earlier take that actually has the data on it. I use a MIDI foot controller to control the transport allowing me to stay in the 'flow' and quickly record my ideas when inspiration hits, but unfortunately this all goes out the window when I have to start mousing around with all these broken and empty takes...

Have you tried enabling "trim content behind media items when recording" in the Options menu?
