Which tyre size ?

Currently on my V70 I have alloy wheels with 215/55 R16 W tyres. According to kwik-fit I can have either the 215 or 205 widths. The 205's are considerably cheaper for same tyre and speed rating (I assume this is a much more common size), so is it ok to drop down a width size ?

Yes, you can. I run 205/55-16's on my S60 (2002) during the winter.

Thanks imac. Are they any more susceptible to kerbing losing a small amount in the width ?

Hi Tim as you said the fitters said you can, But when you come down a size in profile i.e. from 55 to 50, or like i did went up from a 18" rim 35 to a 17" rim 45, i wanted a 40 but there weren't many 91 load rating tyres with a 40 profile to, so i had to get a lardy 45/91, you must make sure they have or you can get a tyre with the correct load rating, the W you stated is the speed rating, regards Gary,

Good point Gary, I believe the minimum load rating for the phase 2 S60/V70 is 88, but as standard the tyres are usually 91 load rated.
