Superbowl National Anthem (Billy Joel)

Too Funny!! I was shocked by the same thing - but I assumed no one but recording junkies would understand that problem!! I didn't even bother explaining it to my wife. Too much Autotune!! It sounded like my tracks when I first throw it on. Gotta tweak the crap out of it to NOT sound like that. Sounded like they didn't bother chaning a single setting!! Mr. Joel is gonna feel like an ***** tomorrow when he watches the replay. So which is worse - that fairly straight-ahead presentation with bad autotune or motown singers butchering it with too much improv? I personally would rather hear Mr. Joel fight with the Autotune than hear Aretha Franklin spank the anthem to the curb with her wailing.

Just heard an interview with Joel on Fox News, He had exactly 1:25 to sing the whole thing so it would sync in perfectly when some F-16's flew over.Let's face it it's all gone down hill since Janet Jackson. Can't take any more chances! Mitch

You think Billy Joel is amazing? He might have BEEN amazing 25 years ago (although, I always thought he was a hack), but he's now a tired old wanker, and a parody of himself.

Add that to the bad sound of the whole show and it's quite amazing! My daughter sang the National Anthem at a Dodgers baseball game. I could only tell her to be ready. Know your notes, lyrics, center your pitch, and annuciate. Obviously Billy wasn't ready.

Yeah, well...that's rather my point. If the tired old dude isn't "ready" to sing the National Anthem after 30 years in the business, he oughta just turn the lights out and go home.

It wasn't his fault. Some idiot didn't know how to use auto tune. He is a great writer. The fact that he plays piano and sings the way he does is amazing. Lighten up on the guy.
